ODH Heating carries out gas boiler replacements across Belfast for homeowners and landlords. If your existing boiler is no longer working properly and needs to be replaced, our Gas Safe registered engineers will remove the old unit, fit a new boiler and test the system before leaving.
When Does a Boiler Need Replacing?
Most gas boilers have a working life of around 10 to 15 years. When a system starts to reach the end of that lifespan, repairs become more frequent and replacement parts can be harder to source. At that point, replacing the boiler is often more cost-effective than continuing to repair it.
Signs that a replacement may be the right option include:
- The boiler is over 12 years old
- Faults are recurring despite previous repairs
- Heating bills have increased without a clear reason
- The system struggles to heat the property adequately
- Parts are no longer readily available
- The boiler is making persistent unusual noises
If you are unsure whether repair or replacement is the right call, our engineers will assess the system and give you an honest recommendation.
Types of Boiler We Install
There are three main types of gas boiler and the right choice depends on the size and layout of your property and how your heating system is currently set up.
A combi boiler provides both heating and hot water directly from one unit, without needing a separate hot water cylinder. It is generally suited to smaller properties and households with one bathroom.
A system boiler works with a hot water cylinder and is better suited to larger homes or properties where hot water is needed in more than one place at the same time.
A regular boiler (also called a conventional or heat-only boiler) works with both a cylinder and a cold water tank, and is typically found in older properties with an existing traditional system.
Our engineers will advise on the most suitable type for your property before any work is agreed.
What the Replacement Process Involves
On the day of a boiler replacement, our engineers will isolate the gas and water supply, remove and safely dispose of the old unit and fit the new boiler in the same location or a new position if required. The flue, pipework and controls are connected and the system is filled, pressurised and tested to confirm it is working correctly.
Before leaving, we will walk you through the controls on the new boiler and make sure you are comfortable operating the system. Any questions you have on the day will be answered before the job is signed off.
